If you are looking for a thrilling read that will keep you guessing until the end, then 'A Simple Favor' by Darcey Bell is the juicy treat for you. The book is a perfectly mixed cocktail of mystery, betrayal, and dark humor that will keep you on the edge of your seat.

This novel is a riveting story of two women who become friends through their sons, but soon find themselves in a deadly game of cat and mouse.

The story begins with Stephanie, a widowed mom blogger who meets Emily, a glamorous and mysterious PR executive who has a son, Nicky who’s in the same class as Stephanie’s son Miles. The two women bond over martinis, books, and movies, and soon become best friends.

One day, Emily asks Stephanie a simple favor: to pick up Nicky from school and take him to her house, as she has to work late. Stephanie agrees, but Emily never shows up to collect her son. Stephanie tries to contact Emily, but gets no answer. She starts to worry, and posts on her blog asking for help. She also gets closer to Sean, Emily’s handsome British husband, who’s equally concerned about his wife’s disappearance.

Later, the police find Emily’s body in a lake near her family’s cabin. They rule her death as a suicide, but is she really dead?

One of the most intriguing aspects of the novel is the narration. The story is told from the alternating perspectives of Stephanie, Emily, and Sean, each of whom has their own story. The reader is left to wonder who is telling the truth, who is lying, and who is hiding something.

The novel is full of twists and turns that will surprise you and make you question everything you read. It’s also full of dark humor and witty dialogue that will make you laugh and cringe at the same time.

A Simple Favor is a fun and fast-paced read that will entertain you and keep you on your toes. However, it’s not perfect as I expected more from the ending, and I wish the author had let us know more about what happened with Stephanie, Emily, and Sean. At some points, the plot felt a bit too far-fetched or convenient as well.

Overall, A Simple Favor was a fun read for me. So, if you are looking for a page-turner thriller book that will keep you engaged, A Simple Favor might be the book for you. Just be careful who asks you for favors.
